Modelling nanofluid flow through a horizontal channel with compliant wall
(University of Dar es Salaam, 2016) Marwa, Said Juma
The study aimed at modeling nanofluid flow in a horizontal channel with compliant wall. The flow was assumed to be a two –dimensional and the fluid to be viscous, incompressible and Newtonian. The channel walls were modeled using a peristaltic type of model. The mathematical model of nanofluid flow through a horizontal channel with compliant wall was formulated. Then the governing systems of equation were reduced using the low Reynolds number approximation and the long wave length approximation. The reduced equations were solved analytically and also numerically.Numerical results show that, the velocity is significantly affected mainly by the pressure gradient parameter. This is due to the fact that when we increase the pressure gradient, the velocity profile increases and acquires a maximum. Also the variations of thermophoresis and Brownian motion parameters give significant effects on temperature distribution in the channel.
