    Impact of micro loans on women empowerment in Tanzania: the case of Micro Enterprises in Ilala municipal.

    The study focused on the impact of micro loans on women empowerment in Tanzania with micro enterprises in Ilala Municipality as the study case. The study has been guided by three hypotheses as independent variables which are promotion of entrepreneurship, access to income and contribution to household on women empowerment as the dependent variable. The study was conducted in line with positivism as the main approach. Explanatory study design was employed with the information to fill the knowledge gap being gathered in the particular case study through causality testing approach. Data were collected using the questionnaire which consisted of closed ended questions with variables to be measured. Analysis of the data was done using SPSS software to get descriptive statistics and inferential tests to get relevant data to fill the study gap. Descriptive statistics specifically frequency tables and percentages were used to illustrate data on the profile of the respondents in connection to the study. Correlation and multiple regression analyses were used to show the relationship between the independent variables of the study on the dependent variable. Findings indicated that all three hypotheses of the study were found to be positive statistically significant on dependent variable which implied that women empowerment in Tanzania is determined by promotion of entrepreneurship, access to income and contribution to household as a result of micro loans initiatives. The study further recommends that women empowerment has been a good initiative in Tanzania using micro loans because they have enabled women to obtain economic power. With that, the study further emphasizes on the fact that regardless of their empowerment they should always consider their position in the society, families and localities whereas they act and behave in manner that are appropriate. Since the study was conducted using explanatory design; another study may be undertaken using exploratory design.
