    The operating and financial performance improvements of executive agencies in Tanzania.

    Executive Agencies are important instruments in the modernization objectives in Tanzania Government for improved efficiency and effectiveness. This report presents the results of the research, which investigated the operating and financial performance improvement of Executive Agencies in Tanzania. The study adopted classified sampling, identified and visited the classified sample for collection of data used to determine operating and financial performances of the Agencies. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) was employed for data analysis. Research findings indicated the following: the profitability of the executive agencies has decreased during the period of study in terms of ROE, ROA and ROS. There was a significant decrease from year one to year three in capital investment spending at 5 percent level. In general, the financial performance was deteriorating. The findings revealed that operating efficiency has improved in terms of sales efficiency and net income efficiency, it was found that output increased while employment decreased. Generally, the Executive Agencies seem to improve their operating performance. The research concluded that the executive agencies have improved operating performance but deteriorated in financial performance.
