(University of Dar es Salaam, 2014) Makwecha, Alice
Service quality is very critical in health care services since being sent about health care quality may lead to death of many people. I that regard, both governments of Malawi and Tanzania have put so much energy into improving service quality of their public hospitals however, the people of the two countries do not prefer public hospitals. The main objective of the study is to assess patients` perception of service quality in public hospitals in Malawi and Tanzania. The study adopted quantitative research approach. Questionnaires were used to collect data from MNH. Data were analyzed using both descriptive analysis and independent- Sample t test. Generally, patients were satisfied with the health services quality. In addition, the findings show that in both hospitals there were no significant differences in the way patients perceive the health services quality. It is thus recommends that the hospitals should train their employees on how to treat their patients. There is also need for both hospitals to conduct more research for them to know how the patients perceive the service quality of the hospitals.
