    Factors influencing domestic tourism in Tanzania: a case study of Kilimanjaro national park

    Tanzania is endowed with key attractions necessary for the development of the successful Tourism industry. Despite this potentials, and opportunities for development of tourism, Tanzania has achieved little in terms of domestic tourist inflow compared with its total population. The general objective of this study is to investigate the factors influencing domestic tourism in Tanzania focusing on the Kilimanjaro National Park. The study found that Kilimanjaro National Park represents one of the National parks around the countries that have many attractions. Tanzania is blessed with natural resources which are the main attractions. In this study the sample of 100 respondents was estimated but only 86 returned the questionnaire, which form 86 percent of the response rate. (30) Individual firms (tour operators) were interviewed; TANAPA and KINAPA officers also were interviewed. The data were analyzed using SPSS. Results indicated that education and awareness should be given to the people of all level the importance of visiting natural sites so that they could keep history for the next generation. The campaign to influence many people to visit should be done by TTB and TANAPA so that people could be motivated.
