    Reiteration in Kiswahili poetry

    This study analyses reiteration in Kiswahili poetry. It identifies various types of reiterative ties used in the Kiswahili Poetry, their similarities and differences and the function of reiteration in Kiswahili Poetry. The study reveals that Kiswahili Poetry makes use of the following reiterative ties: same words, synonyms, hyponyms, superordinate’s and general words. It also shows that, the prominence occurrences of these reiterative ties depend on the length of the text. The study also shows that there are similarities and differences in the use of reiterative ties among the forms of Kiswahili Poetry as well as in each text. The similarities are: (a) all the three forms of Kiswahili poetry make use of all types of reiterative ties and (b) there is an extensive use of the same word and synonyms in each text. The texts differ in the distribution of reiterative ties in terms of numbers and frequencies. The uses of reiteration in Kiswahili Poetry are for many purposes. Some of them are to emphasize the content, to strengthen form, to intensify the idea put forward by a poet, to indicate and to stress the multiple ideas found in the text and to convey the message

    Usaguzi wa kijinsia katika vitabu vya kiswahili vya fasihi ya watoto na mtazamo wa wadau nchini Tanzania

    Vitabu vya watoto ni chanzo na msingi wa maarifa na stadi mbalimbali za watoto. Ni kupitia njia hii ujamiishaji, utamaduni wa jamii pamoja na mitindo yao ya maisha ukiwamo usaguzi wa kijinsia, ambao una athari hasi, hasa kwa watoto, hutolewa, huhifadhiwa na kurithishwa. Pamoja na ushahidi wa tafiti kuhusu dhima na athari za vitabu kwa watoto, hakuna tafiti zilizochunguza usaguzi wa kijinsia katika vitabu vya Kiswahili vya fasihi ya watoto nchini Tanzania. Utafiti huu unachunguza vilongo vya usaguzi wa kijinsia katika vitabu vya Kiswahili vya fasihi ya watoto pamoja na mtazamo wa wadau nchini Tanzania. Malengo mahsusi ya utafiti huu yalikuwa ni kubainisha utambulisho na nafasi za kijinsia ambazo waandishi wanawapa wahusika katika vitabu vya fasihi ya watoto kupitia picha na uhusika; kufafanua jinsi lugha inavyounda na kuwasilisha vilongo vya sifa na majukumu ya kijinsia ya wahusika katika vitabu vya fasihi ya watoto; kuchambua maoni ya wadau wa vitabu vya watoto ili kujua mtazamo wao kuhusiana na usaguzi wa kijinsia katika vitabu vya fasihi ya watoto; na kujadili mabadiliko pamoja na changamoto za uwasilishaji wa usaguzi wa kijinsia katika vitabu vya Kiswahili vya fasihi ya watoto vya miaka ya tisini na elfu mbili (1991-1999 na 20002009) na suluhisho lake. Ili kufikia malengo haya, utafiti huu ulitumia data za vitabu na za uwandani. Mkabala wa Uchanganuzi Tunduizi wa Kilongo ulitumika katika kuchambua vilongo vya usaguzi wa kijinsia na suala la lugha katika vitabu 30 teule vya utafiti huu. Uchambuzi wa Kimaudhui ulitumika katika kubainisha mabadiliko ya uwasilishaji wa kijinsia katika vitabu teule pamoja na kuchambua maoni ya wadau wa vitabu vya watoto yaliyotokana na dodoso na usaili ulionukuliwa. Nadharia zilizoongoza utafiti huu ni Nadharia ya Vilongo vya Kijinsia na Nadharia ya Uundilizi wa Kijinsia. Matokeo ya utafiti yanaonesha kuwa kuna kiwango kikubwa cha usaguzi wa kijinsia katika vitabu vya Kiswahili vya fasihi ya watoto nchini Tanzania: Kwanza, kuna utambulisho wenye dhima tofauti na nafasi zisizowiana za kijinsia kwa wahusika wa kike na wa kiume katika vitabu vya Kiswahili vya fasihi ya watoto na hivyo kuonesha kuwapo kwa usaguzi wa kijinsia katika vitabu hivyo. Pili, lugha na mitindo ya kifasihi katika vitabu vya Kiswahili vya fasihi ya watoto inaunda vilongo tofauti vya sifa na majukumu ya wahusika wa kike na wa kiume hivyo kuakisi usaguzi wa kijinsia. Tatu, wadau wa vitabu vya watoto wana mtazamo wa kisaguzi kuhusiana na sifa na majukumu ya kijinsia ya wahusika kutokana na kuwatofautisha wahusika wa wa kike na wa kiume kisifa na kimajukumu, hali inayoonesha kuwa usaguzi wa kijinsia unarithishwa toka kizazi kimoja hadi kingine. Nne, yapo mabadiliko chanya ya uwasilishaji wa nafasi za wahusika kwa vitabu vya Kiswahili vya watoto miaka ya elfu mbili (2000-2009) vinapolinganishwa na vitabu vya miaka ya tisini (1991-1999), hali inayoashiria kuwa usaguzi wa kijinsia unapungua kulingana na wakati.
