(University of Dar es Salaam, 2006) Longo, Rehema A.
This study is about the community responses to provision of education to orphans. basically, the study relied on multiple sources of information and data obtained from both primary and secondary sources. Primary data were obtained from research work carried out in Njombe District while secondary data were collected from various literature related to this research. The study had three specific objectives. Other factors for conception of the community responses to provision of education to orphans in Njombe District Council were reported by respondents. Such community perceptions on provision of education to orphans were dominated by the stereo type that no one would provide orphans with education except the government. The community copying strategies on the orphaned children’s problemalso were reported by the respondents. It seemed clear from the study findings that the community responses to provision of education to orphans was not yet improved and thus there was a need for better educated community members and officials as an important means to building better future of the orphaned children. Indeed, understanding the community perception on provision of education to orphans would strengthen and improve strategies for addressing the needs of the communities dealing with orphans.
