    The effects of non tarrif barriers on east African’s export performance a case study of Tanzania and Rwanda

    The study investigated the effect of Non Tariff Barrier on East African’s export performance between Tanzania and Rwanda. The study identified the extent to which administrative procedures, infrastructure factors, and technical barriers relate to export performance between Tanzania and Rwanda. Descriptive study design was used to get necessary and required data to answer the research questions. Questionnaires were used to collect data from different respondents, which were then quantitatively analyzed with the help of SPSS. The findings of the study revealed that the administrative problem, infrastructure and technical problems pose challenges to the exportation between countries. As a result there is notable poor performance of trade between countries. Outdated technology, poor arrangements of works by responsible authorities, red-tape during permit request and even quality of the products were found to be the main challenges for the exportation of products between the countries. The findings obtained from the study have implications on business operators, the responsible authorities and the governments of countries on improving the exportation of the products between countries. Therefore, it is recommended that the supporting organizations should be improved in terms of technological, products quality and transportation while other authorities have to improve on their operations so as to make the exportation smooth.
