Item Factors influencing effective implementation of accounting information system in Islamic bank case of Dar es Salaam selected commercial banks(University of Dar es Salaam, 2017) Killagane, FredrickThe study aimed to evaluate factors influencing effective implementation of accounting information system in Islamic banks a case study of Dar es Salaam selected commercial banks namely NBC, KCB, Amana bank and PBZ. To attain the objective and counter research questions linked to them, descriptive survey design was used with questionnaire and interview as a method for data collection. A sample size of 100 respondents who were staff from various departments of four selected commercial banks (namely NBC, KCB, Amana bank and PBZ) was used. Out of Islamic products, the common product in Tanzania is murabaha while arbun, mudaraba, ijra wa Iqtina, Tawaruq and Musharaka were not offered. In case of the factors, the study revealed that only regulatory factors were found to be significant in influencing AIS effectiveness. The remaining two factors management support and technological adoption were not found to have significant influence on AIS effectiveness. Accounting information system is very important in providing a faithful representation of transactions or economic events occurred in the organization. In the context of Islamic banks, it becomes very important to present accounting information which is relevant and reliable in accordance with the substance and form of sharia contract/agreement. Banks which provide Islamic banking services in Tanzania must develop accounting information systems continuously, in order to keep up with the development, so it would adopt with the technological and technical demands of our generation not only that but also Islamic banks should tag along with latest modems, in order to meet the client's needs.
