    Marriage instability and child care: the Case of Kisarawe District
    (University of Dar es Salaam, 2011) Kangeta, Kulwa
    This study examined marriage instability and child care in Kisarawe District. It specifically analyzed the factors that influence marriage instability. It also examined the relationship between marriage instabilities and child care and lastly it highlights the intervention measures on marriage instability. The study was carried out in Kisarawe District, Coast Region from November to December 2010.Data was collected from a sample of 270 women from unstable families. The primary data were collected by using a questionnaire and structured interviews. The documentary reviews were used to collect secondary data .The Excel, SPSS version 15.0, bivariate, and Multivariate tools were used to analyze the data.The findings from the study indicated that children and women were victims of marriage instabilities and this is caused by several factors such as education, religion, poverty and parity. Moreover, a strong relationship was found between marriage instabilities and child care with many tested variables. It was also found that, several intervention measures were applied in the study area in the attempt to solve some marital and related problems. These include community participation, Private Institutions, Government and Religious support.In this study, it is recommended that, the government under the Ministry of Education should build boarding schools for girls in order to reduce early marriages and pregnancies, and women should be empowered in education and income so as to limit dependence on men. Also, the definition of the child should be the same to all institutions such as in marriage Act, Employment and UN convention.
