    The assessment of the effects of talent management strategies on employee engagement: the case of Tanzania Bureau of Standards

    This study investigated the effects of talent management strategies on employee engagement. Firstly, it examined the factors contributing to effective talented employee engagement strategies in Tanzania Bureau of Standards. Secondly, the study found out the importance of developing and engaging employees. Thirdly, it examined the effects of engaging talented employees in Tanzania Bureau of Standards. The study involved thirty three (33) respondents; 16 (48.5%) male and 17 (51.5%) female. Data were collected through questionnaires. The study revealed that there are different factors related to talent and engaging employees such as behavior of the employees to see the importance of the organization, employees’ satisfaction with their current job, employees’ clarity with the current job, employees’ opportunities for the career advancement and good working relationship in Tanzania Bureau of Standards. Also the findings have shown the importance of developing and engaging Employees such as moderate attrition rate in Tanzania Bureau of Standards and moderate productivity level. Moreover, the results shown that they are different effects of employee development and engagement in an organization such as work responsibilities to be reasonable to the organizations, valuable employees participations and views, role models for leaders in the organization, directly employees communication with their bosses, bosses to motivate employees, employees to be professionals, employees contributions to be received positively, to be proud and happy to work for Tanzania Bureau of Standards, to be confident that they got ahead in the organization because of their merits, to be involved in the performance of the organization, to communicate with their bosses and co-workers, to be trustful for their colleagues and senior management and to have enough resources to get their job done. For the organization to have effective talent management strategies it was recommended that Tanzania Bureau of Standards should help individuals realize their full potential through learning and development. The gap in current employee performance and their competency level should be identified. The organization’s working environment should focus on engaging human talent in the long run. When talent management works in concert with employee engagement, it becomes the fundamental driver for organisation development. It is important to invest in the human capital by conducting periodical workshops and training programmes that give impetus to employees to hone their skills and perform tasks more effectively and efficiently. Only when they realize that there is development in their job they feel engaged. Therefore, developmental initiatives have a strong impact on the organisation effectiveness.
