(The university of Dar es Salaam, 2013) Fuime, Safari Hilmary
This study was conducted in Dar es Salaam with the aim of assessing the impact of selected factors on the women SMEs access to credit. The population for this study was Kinondoni district small and medium women entrepreneurs’ business owners. The sample of 50 retailers’ was selected using the simple random Sampling. Both primary and secondary methods were used to collect data. Analyses of data were made using qualitative and quantitative methods. The findings reveal that most women believe that they can do business better if they are supported. The respondents agreed that conditions put by Microfinance Institutions hinder them to access loan. Also the finding of the study shows that the borrowing cost is the major constraint to the women SMES to access loan. The study recommends that more education should be given to the public to create awareness that women can do business better if they are supported. Also, it is recommended that interest charged should be reduced so as to enable more women to access loans. Furthermore, borrowing cost should be regulated time to time to enable creation of good business environment to women small and medium enterprises.
