    Factors influencing SMEs performance: the case of Attire and Batik Dealers in Dar es Salaam

    This study was designed to assess the factors influencing SMEs performance in Tanzania. The specific objectives of the study were to examine human resources management factors influencing SMEs performance, explore financial resources factors influencing SMEs performance and to examine technological factors affecting SMEs performance. The study employed quantitative approach where 100 business owners/managers in Dar es Salaam participated in the study. Data were collected through questionnaire and analysed through SPSS using factor and regression analysis. Through factor analysis and later regression analysis, the study confirmed that SMEs performance is influenced by human resources management factors, financial factors and technological factors and that there is a positive relationship between SMEs performance and all three independent variables: human resources management, financial and technological factors (R-square = 0.997, ) The study recommends that policy makers should give emphasis on more training on management of human resources efficiently and effectively. More training should be given on various strategies SMEs can use to acquire fund and appropriate technology to stimulate SMEs performance.
