(University of Dar es Salaam, 2015) Dyegula, Bahati
The purpose of this study was to investigate the business analytics of marketability of academic programmes in higher learning institutions in Tanzania for the academic year 2014/2015 based on sex, subjects’ combinations and admissions points. Sample of 821 admitted students into law degree programmes in various higher learning institutions in Tanzania for the academic year 2014/2015 was used.Secondary data from Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA) databases were used. Data were analysed using descriptive and one way ANOVA, through Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Results revealed that there were differences on marketability of law degree programmes in higher learning institutions based on sex, subjects’ combinations and admissions points. Marketability differs; however, the University of Dar es Salaam seems to be favourable choice of higher learning institutions. The study suggested to various higher learning institutions in Tanzania to concentrate on academic programmes which are more marketable in their universities. Tanzania Commissions for Universities (TCU) should select students according to set admissions requirements. Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MoEVT) to find the way to encourage teachers in secondary schools to teach effectively and efficiently for the better results.
