This study discusses the factors influencing employee motivation in industrial sector the case of Tanzania Portland Cement Company (TPCC). The general objective of this study is to assess the factors influencing employee’s motivation in Tanzania Portland Cement Company and determining motivational approaches implemented in the company. Given the nature of the research problem, the case study method of qualitative approach was used in this study. The research was carried out in the TPCC located in Dare es Salaam and it drew its samples from employees of the Company. The researcher used questionnaires, observation and carried out a documentary analysis to obtain data and elaborations from the respondents. The study results revealed that employee motivation factors are practiced by the company, as majority of the employee were aware of different factors applied by the management to motivate them. Majority of the TPCC employees value wages/salaries as their major motivating factor followed by career development opportunities, promotion system, leadership style, profit sharing plans, provision of bonuses, being a member of pension scheme, job security, employee recognition, employee relation, working environment, participation in decision making and stock ownership plans. Majority of the TPCC employee don’t consider termination benefit as a motivating factor in the industry. It was recommended that the company should consider employing more female workers as they form 11.26 percent of all employees in the industry compared to males which form 78.74 percent. The company should provide career development opportunities to its workers as majority of them are motivated by it. Financial factors are considered to motivate a large number of TPCC workers therefore the TPCC management should frequently review their salary scales to continue motivating workers and be able to compete with other business competitors.
