    Mathematical modelling of blood flow in an artery with stenosis: a non-Newtonian model

    Blood ow through narrow arteries with stenosis has been analysed in this study by considering blood as an incompressible non-Newtonian uid and assuming the Herschel-Bulkley uid model. In this study, the Method of Lines has used to solve nonlinear partial di_erential equations (PDEs) of motion. Using governing parameters; velocity, wall shear stress and volumetric ow rate are given, their variations with the radius of stenosis, axial length, height of stenosis and yield stress are graphically illustrated. The results show that velocity and volumetric ow rate of the owing blood decrease with the increase in stenotic height while wall shear stress increases as blood reaches the throat of stenosis when values of power-law index (n), pressure gradient (G), yield stress (_o) and a constant b are held _xed
