(University of Dar es Salaam, 2018) Chimtembo, Masauko Gerald
Employees in the forestry industry are exposed to many hazards in their workplace and this is likely to influence their levels of job satisfaction if the correct measures are not put in place by their employers and government. The most affected employees are those who work in the field and laboratory area. This research work, therefore found it necessary to assess health and safety management practices and employee job satisfaction in the forestry industry using TAFORI. The research design used was a cross-sectional survey design and the structured questionnaires were also used to collect data which was analyzed using descriptive statistics including percentages and means. Correlation analysis, Regression analysis were used to determine the relationship between occupational health and safety practices and employee job satisfaction. The results of regression analysis revealed that, there is strong relationship between the practice of occupational health and safety management and employee job satisfaction in the forestry industry. Moreover, the study has implication for both employees and management who involved in the implementation of rules and regulation set. Where by the government have to involve employees and employer in health and safety activities. It is recommended that, TAFORI management have to often organize education, training, workshops, seminars on health and safety issues, publish materials on health and safety, and many other stages include safety awareness in the minds of workers. This will keep them aware of the dangers of their work and how to prevent them at their workplace.
