Political rights of women in Tanzania.

This dissertation focuses on the Political Rights of Women in Tanzania Mainland and discussion is at 3 levels: international, regional and local. The study takes a historical approach and covers the period from colonialism to the post independence era, including the multi system. What has been examined is "why women remain marginalized, despite legal political guarantees", and that it is therefore important to see that women representation in different posts is proportional to their number in population. Therefore the first part is the introduction, which provides the background to the study, the hypotheses, the objectives, rationale, and the methodology of the study. The second part covers the international regime of human rights, and the third covers political rights of women in Tanzania. The fourth part covers implementation political rights of women in Tanzania, and covers the participation of women in political system. It narrates responses as articulated from the interviews, examines factors that hinder women participation in the political system and provide a comparative analysis between male and female on the same. Finally is the fifth part that concludes the study and provides recommendations on what should be employed to enhance women participation in political system.
