Item Refugee law and practice in Africa with emphasis on the Tanzanian experience(University of Dar es Salaam, 1983) Ayok, Chol AnthonyThis is a study of refugee law and practice in Africa with special emphasis on the Tanzanian experience. It asserts that the root cause of refugeeism is class struggle: The refugee problem will continue to loom large so long as struggle continues. The aim of the study is to show that the current attempts by the imperialist countries and their agents (the neo-colonial leaders in Africa) cannot suceed to solve the refugee problem. They fail to acknowledge that refugeesim is caused by the very people seeking its solution. The study shows that the imperialist countries such as the United States and the neo-colonial regimes such as Tanzania do derive some short term benefits by <> refugees. Some of the problems emanating from the discriminatory method of granting asylum are illustrated. The difficulties faced by the rural refugees are highlighted. In this way the inability by the imperialist and the neo-colonial regimes to solve the refugee problem is implicitly underlined
